Our Story
Who Is Nidar?
Project Nidar draws its name from Nidar, a figure in traditional Somali folklore associated with justice, accountability, and the protection of those who have been wronged.
Nidar was remembered as a righter of wrongs and a champion of those exploited by their fellow human beings.
The traditional Somali expression, “Nidar baa ku heli”, meaning “Nidar will find you,” reflects the enduring cultural association between Nidar and accountability for wrongdoing.
Today, Project Nidar carries this symbolism into a contemporary mission: confronting hatred, documenting injustice, and defending human dignity.
The organization is a modern civic initiative, not a religious institution.

Every record passes private editorial review, evidence verification, and a public-interest and privacy assessment before publication. Allegations are clearly labeled, relevant parties are given an opportunity to respond, and corrections are made transparently.
